Features: With the increasing lifespan of humans and the improvement of living standards, the incidence of diabetes is on the rise. Currently, there are still many misconceptions about diabetes. Under the guidance of some wrong viewpoints, patients' hyperglycemia and the resulting systemic metabolic disorders are not effectively controlled. Over time, diabetes complications gradually emerge. Some patients develop kidney failure and can only rely on hemodialysis to sustain life; some patients lose their sight due to retinal detachment; some patients have limbs amputated due to diabetic foot, resulting in disability; and some patients suffer from acute and critical conditions such as cerebral thrombosis, cerebral hemorrhage, and myocardial infarction due to atherosclerosis complications. Once diabetes develops complications, it not only brings immense mental stress and physical pain to patients but also imposes a heavy burden on families and society. As professionals working on the front lines of diabetes treatment and education, we often encounter patients who suffer heavy consequences due to their ignorance or misconceptions about diabetes. In fact, with scientific prevention and treatment, diabetes is entirely preventable and treatable, and many pains and misfortunes can be avoided. Therefore, we deeply feel the necessity to let everyone, especially diabetes patients and their families, understand the prevention and treatment knowledge of diabetes, improve patients' ability for self-care, self-monitoring, and self-treatment, thereby effectively controlling diabetes and enabling patients to live, study, and work like healthy people, thereby improving their quality of life. This is precisely the purpose behind compiling this popular science book. The authors of this book include doctors, nurses, nutritionists, and postgraduate students with backgrounds in traditional Chinese and Western medicine. The book is divided into fourteen parts, categorizing and answering questions that most patients are interested in. It serves as a practical self-care manual for diabetes patients and an effective way for various individuals to understand the latest knowledge about diabetes. We believe that by reading this book, everyone will benefit and gain control over the prevention and treatment of diabetes, bid farewell to unhealthy habits such as excessive calorie intake, insufficient exercise, smoking, and excessive drinking, maintain a healthy body and abundant energy, and enjoy every day in good health.
