Features: Nature provides us with magnificent colors and endless landscapes, serving as excellent subjects for future artists to study color and master expressive techniques. The composition of landscape painting must not only highlight the main subject, create a visual focus, and clearly convey the artist's expressive intent and emotions but also prioritize the formal sense of composition. All forms of artistic expression must be embodied through aesthetic forms. Composition is about arranging real scenes on the canvas, ensuring that the combination of elements in the painting both reflects the artist's intended expression and creates visual beauty. The construction of a form is not merely a record of unselected, unorganized objective scenes but should be guided by the expressive intent, involving selection and rearrangement to achieve an ideal composition.
The modeling in landscape painting primarily addresses the shaping of the forms, textures, and spatial relationships of the elements. Observing and analyzing landscapes with a sketching perspective, grasping the three major light and shadow relationships between the sky, land, and objects, is the basic compositional principle of black, white, and gray relationships in the painting. Subsequently, further refine the light and shadow variations in the sky's upper and lower parts, the land's near and far distances, and the objects' upper, lower, left, and right sides to shape the spatial effect of the entire painting. From the beginning to the end of the painting process, it is essential to clearly define the positions of each element and their front-to-back relationships within the whole. Additionally, both color and form must be arranged appropriately, with distinct layers and clarity.
