Features: Chinese feminism is sharp but not aggressive. It explores women's issues, cares about the harmonious development of both genders, and ultimately focuses on the eternal question of "humanity." This book combines history and the present, translation and localization, theory and action, offering a blend of academic rigor and fashion, showcasing a smiling Chinese feminism. In the new volume, "Feminism in Action," we will examine social policies, laws, economics, and social support systems from a feminist perspective, observe the clear insights of feminism into grand and complex social relationships, analyze the impact of employment trends on women during the transition period, compare the different roles of women in the restructuring of the global political and economic landscape, and experience the refreshing approach of feminist action, like a gentle breeze. Meanwhile, "The Secret of the Economic Influence of Chinese-American Women in 2004" vividly presents how beautiful, intelligent women maximize their creative potential and achieve self-fulfillment, performing dazzling roles on the global economic stage, prompting us to reconsider the resources of "women's power."
The study of women's issues has deep roots and a long history. For example, chastity, as a common sense, has an original state—how has it evolved under the control of mainstream discourse in different periods? Restoring the historical evolution and accumulated meaning of the term "chastity" through the examination of the life of Boki, we discuss the "evolution of chastity." Chastity has moved from an idea to an event, and understanding how events shape and influence later concepts is what we need to clarify. Through this restoration, we see the historical living, psychological, and social conditions of women.
The wheels of history continue to roll forward, and the study of women's issues continues to grow. "Mou Zongsan's Aesthetic Experience Theory and the New Development of Western Feminist Aesthetics" and Bell Hooks's "Desire and Resistance: Consuming the Other" allow us to understand the development of feminism from a comparative perspective of China and the West. "Feminist Pedagogy" not only introduces the liberal arts education and teaching reforms at American universities but also shares the rich and diverse experiences of gender education initiatives in universities across China. Through the experiences, reflections, and insights of the instructors, we see not only the close connection between feminist academia and educational practice but also the importance of collaboration and strategic discussions needed by feminist workers in the face of limited educational resources.
This volume also introduces two new formats: speeches and case analyses. These are actually the most commonly used genres in our daily teaching, but our intention is to emphasize the subjectivity of female professors in their lectures, revealing their particular sensitivity and unique insights into issues of region and gender. This volume also includes "Feminist Keywords," featuring the important terms "motherhood" (motherhood) and "women." In the foundation of feminist theory, their importance is no less than that of "gender" and "power," and the term "women" carries a special historical significance in the Chinese context.
"Close Reading of Feminist Texts" continues the re-examination of classics and the interpretation of new literary texts. This volume offers many insightful readings. "Feminist Perspectives" extends to new platforms, including analysis of idol dramas and biographies.
