The dudou (traditional Chinese undergarment) was originally used by ancient people for covering and warmth. Later, it became an inner garment for warming the abdomen and protecting the chest. In the Tang Dynasty, Zhou Fang's "Linzhi Tu" and in the Song Dynasty, Su Zuo and Su Hanchen's "Infant Play Scene," depict scenes of young children wearing dudous. In fact, after the Western Qin Dynasty, adults also commonly wore them, especially women. The craftsmanship of dudous is meticulous, with delicate stitching and a wide range of embroidered patterns. The main themes include auspiciousness, blessings, warding off disasters, reverence for fertility, and joy in having many children, symbolizing the good wish of "collecting joy." It gradually became a popular gift for festive occasions such as seasonal celebrations and newlyweds' entrances. However, the evolution and development of the dudou have not yet ended. In the 21st century, after the meticulous craftsmanship of fashion designers, the dudou has stunningly appeared on urban streets in summer. It embodies the natural elegance of a woman's figure, which may be the very charm of the dudou.
