21st Century China Agricultural Science and Technology Development Strategy

Features: New Century, New Stage, New Situation. We must have new ideas and methods in the development of agricultural science and technology, and must strategically adjust the direction and priorities of agricultural science and technology work. We must formulate key measures to achieve major breakthroughs in agricultural science and technology, and reform the agricultural science and technology system. Only in this way can we establish an agricultural science and technology innovation system with world-class advanced levels, commensurate with China's status as a major agricultural country. In accordance with the central's deployment, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Agriculture led the joint efforts of 28 departments to formulate China's "Agricultural Science and Technology Development Program" for the 21st century (2001-2010). To organize the formulation of China's "Agricultural Science and Technology Development Program" for the new century and new stage (2001-2010), the Ministry of Science and Technology organized relevant experts in 1998 to conduct special research on more than 20 aspects, including future trends in China's agricultural and rural economic development in the next 15 years, future 15-year technology policies and scientific and technological priorities in various fields of agriculture, as well as policies and support system construction for the new stage of agricultural science and technology development.
