Features: This book is the recommended teaching material for the cultural foundation courses in five-year higher vocational education, endorsed by the Department of Vocational Education and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education. It is written in accordance with the guidance of the National Steering Committee for the Development of Public Courses in Five-Year Higher Vocational Education, the "Basic Requirements for the Practical Chinese Course," and the "Principles for Teaching and Curriculum Development in Five-Year Higher Vocational Education" proposed by the National Five-Year Higher Vocational Education School Collaboration Association. The book consists of 8 units. The mandatory level is divided into 7 units based on 6 categories: basic recitation, basic writing, literary works appreciation, classical Chinese reading, oral communication, and written communication. In terms of reading, two units are dedicated to reading (recitation) teaching content, which not only cultivates students' ability to grasp and summarize information but also enhances their recitation skills. Additionally, it includes the reading of pre-Qin classical Chinese works and the appreciation of poetry, respectively, to develop students' reading abilities in classical Chinese and literary works. For language expression, tailored to students' needs, it provides knowledge and skill training in oral communication, such as basic oral communication skills and storytelling, as well as written communication, including knowledge and skill training in written communication and the writing of letters. The elective level consists of one unit focused on the appreciation of calligraphy and art works. An appendix is also included, which adds extra reading materials, introduces knowledge of literary and cultural history, and covers language and writing, aiming to create a bridge between in-class and out-of-class reading. The book features fresh selections, a scientifically structured layout, and a strong emphasis on bridging with junior high education, making it highly contemporary. At the same time, it aligns closely with the teaching realities of five-year higher vocational education, demonstrating strong practicality and suitability for teachers and students in five-year higher vocational schools.
