Features: Massage medicine is a valuable heritage of traditional Chinese medicine, a medical practice that diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries using massage as its fundamental method. It can be further categorized based on the massage area, including meridian acupoint massage therapy, foot massage therapy, hand massage therapy, and ear massage therapy. It originated from ancient human practices of pressing, kneading, and rubbing to alleviate illnesses and injuries, and it has been applied since the pre-Qin era. The Su Wen·Blood Qi and Forms and Emotions states: "If meridians are obstructed, illness manifests as numbness; treatment should be administered through massage." The Records of the Grand Historian records: "In ancient times, physicians like Yu Fu used manipulation to diagnose diseases." During the Sui and Tang dynasties, the "Imperial Medical Bureau" established positions for massage physicians and professors of massage. In subsequent dynasties, massage medicine continued to develop, with works such as the Secrets of Infant Massage published during the Ming Dynasty and the Corrected Essentials of Massage during the Qing Dynasty. Massage medicine has been widely disseminated, practiced, and researched abroad. Today, it has been promoted in dozens of countries and regions, particularly foot massage therapy, also known as foot reflexology. In the era of highly developed modern medicine, why is it still so popular? The reason is that it integrates diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and health care, is simple and easy to practice, yields significant effects, is non-invasive, has no side effects, requires no equipment, and is easily applicable to the general public for disease prevention and treatment. In clinical practice, foot massage therapy has demonstrated its unique advantages. In terms of diagnosis: a careful massage of both feet can reveal which organs are unhealthy and which are healthy. It can even predict which organs may develop illnesses. In terms of treatment: it has a significant therapeutic effect on many diseases. It can treat chronic and functional diseases, as well as acute conditions. For example, common colds can be cured within two to three days of early treatment. Acute appendicitis (if the onset is within six hours) can often be relieved with one to two massages and cured after several dozen sessions. For chronic diseases, it offers both treatment and prevention. Without disease, it serves as an excellent method for health care and disease prevention. Given that this therapy does not involve needles or medications, has no side effects, yields significant results, and is simple and easy to practice, and since it originates from the people, it should be better applied to them. We hope this therapy can be promoted to every household, contributing to universal access to health care. This is the purpose of writing this book. During the writing process of this book, we received guidance and assistance from relevant leaders of the Health Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and other organizations, and we extend our sincere gratitude to them. Due to the limitations of the authors, errors and omissions may inevitably exist in the book. We kindly request the readers' corrections.
