Features: The Editorial Committee of China Forest held its th meeting in June 1979 to study the guiding principles for compilation and the content to be included in the book. It proposed the guiding philosophy of combining historical records with academic study, embedding learning within records. It was believed that historical records should discuss forest types, exploring the geographical distribution, ecological environment, composition structure, growth and development, and successional evolution of these types, which are considered academic content. Based on these patterns, the book provides evaluations and management suggestions for these forest types in terms of their contribution to the national economy. To form a relatively complete forest ecological system, the general introduction includes chapters on the natural geographical environment of forests, the history of forest changes, the geographical distribution patterns of forests, forest resources, forest insects, forest diseases, forest flora, forest history, forest regions, and forest classification. The book is published in four volumes. The th volume includes the introduction, natural geography, forest changes, geographical distribution of forests, forest resources, forest animals, forest insects, forest diseases, forest flora, forest regions, and forest classification. The second volume covers coniferous forests. The third volume covers broadleaf forests. The fourth volume includes bamboo forests, shrublands, economic forests, and a list of flora and fauna, as well as pathogens between China and Latin America and vice versa.
