Features: Open the door to your future, touching every nerve of your imagination. Numerous galaxies have left traces of our fantasy, and we don’t know where this journey will end. We only know that humanity is advancing toward the vast universe. The progress of science and technology, as well as changes in the socio-economy, are profoundly altering people’s perception of space and time. For many, the most immediate change is in the spatial dimension. The Earth is becoming smaller, which is a widely held belief. Highways and convenient air networks have turned our planet into a small global village; the internet and information superhighways have fundamentally broken down spatial barriers; space shuttles, manned spacecraft, and space stations are turning humanity’s dreams of flight into reality. The days when we travel to distant interstellar spaces and colonize outer space are not far off. Changing perspectives on space help broaden people’s horizons and connect them with the world, which is crucial for both individuals and nations.
The series of science fiction books presented to the readers, Storm of Science Fiction, features works by accomplished young science fiction writers in China. Although their styles vary and their focal points differ, it is evident that after years of exploration, Chinese science fiction has moved from imitating foreign works to creating mature, uniquely Chinese creations. This is a gratifying achievement. It is particularly noteworthy that this series pioneers the genre of short science fiction. In its concise form, it delivers thrilling and vivid plots, crisp and refined language, fantastical and magnificent science fiction concepts, as well as delicate and touching psychological descriptions. Not only is it highly readable, but it also leaves readers with ample room for reflection and imagination. This is a bountiful harvest in the field of Chinese science fiction in recent years.
