Haydn Piano Sonata Collection III

Author: (Austria) Haydn
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-01-01
Features: Currently, this practical edition is based on the outstanding Complete Edition compiled by Carl Pesle. Like the Complete Edition, this version retains the original bold and large-sized markings for slurs, expression marks, and tempo indications by Haydn himself, while all other added markings are in slightly finer and smaller fonts. The markings added in Haydn's published editions are presented in smaller fonts, and those added in later versions appear in small fonts within parentheses, including the markings added by the editor of this book. The fingerings should also approximate Haydn's style, so occasionally, this edition may feature thumb playing black keys. In fact, as the saying goes, "when the east is dark, the west shines," and performers have many opportunities to explore deep fingerings in the same or similar passages.
