The Complete Yuan Literature basically collects articles written in Chinese during the Yuan Dynasty, including poems, ci, classical texts, folk songs, proverbs, and all other prose and parallel prose, as well as fu. The time frame for the collected writers follows the principle of starting with the Jin Dynasty and the Southern Song Dynasty. For writers from the former Jin territory, the upper limit is set at the second year of the Tianxing era of Jin Aizong (1234). For writers from the former Southern Song territory, the upper limit is set at the second year of the Xiangxing era of the Southern Song's Zhao Bing (1297). The lower limit is set at the twenty-eighth year of the Zhizhi era of the Yuan Emperor Shundi (1368).
