Features: According to the current theory of short stories, the standard for classifying "short stories" is simply the number of words. I believe that there is no fundamental difference between excellent short stories and short stories, as some important characteristics of short stories can be reflected in short stories. In the outstanding works of the New Period at the end of the 20th century, we can see that it possesses the following qualities, just like short stories:
1. Spirit: Due to the indulgence of the secular and the temptation of money, the resistance spirit to inertia in the writing of short stories has become particularly precious in the present.
2. Expression: Short stories should also possess the ability to penetrate history and reality. From them, we can feel the emotions of society and the nation they express, the emotions of silence across different strata, and the complexity of real life condensed from the memory of history and the yearning for the future.
3. Space: As a language architecture, the novel shares similarities with the use of "nothingness" and "existence" in architecture.
4. Language: We know that a good novel should have a certain flavor, or in other words, a certain scent.
5. Creativity: If a writer's writing lacks creativity, it is because his inner world is not truly free.
All of the above are potential criteria for evaluating the selected authors of this series. Of course, we cannot rely solely on any one of these criteria, as they are all permeated in the words of the novelists. True novelists regard their novels as their lives, and every life phenomenon is unique and irreplaceable. If we want to experience the qualities of these novels, we can only go into their works to contemplate, seek, and discover. Writing and reading are a pair of conspirators, sharing a common fate and being inseparable. Reading is a conversation; if it is a conversation, then we must face the wise. Reading is a form of listening; if it is listening, then we must face the voice of the heart. Reading is also a journey of life; if it is a journey, then we must embark on it together. For us, writing and reading are an unending reality. We are always in a process of creation and discovery, in a state of the unknown. The meaning of writing and reading is no longer just life, but a process of entering the spiritual world through writing and reading.
