This is a work on modern project organization and human resource management, covering topics such as the project-oriented organization's project management capabilities and human resource management, the capability management of project personnel, improving project management capabilities through experience learning, practical project team management, the management of project stakeholders, project conflict resolution, and cultural management. It is a specialized work on the management of human factors in modern project management. This book is about project management soft skills—Project Organization and Staff Management. The author defines management as the use of people to complete tasks, so the book provides guidance on how to use people to complete projects. Previous project management books have been overly technical, emphasizing the mathematical description of critical path analysis and earned value analysis. In recent years, this situation has changed, with various books beginning to research project management from a softer perspective, recognizing the necessity of managing people. The author has emphasized the role of project management in managing change and the importance of persuading project participants in several books. Although many books have previously discussed the leadership role of project managers, few of them provide a comprehensive overview of the skills of all project management-related personnel. Project management is involved in various aspects of our lives in many ways—construction projects, engineering projects, computer projects, organizational change projects, and even social projects in our family life. However, project management is a relatively new discipline. Yet, the development of project management over the past 50 years has been very rapid, and this development has now brought us great benefits. It has been proven that effective project management can improve project performance by 30% or more. Project management can also improve project schedule performance, leading to the early completion of projects. Of course, project management can also improve project cost performance, resulting in lower costs. Early completion and cost reduction are specific manifestations of improved project performance. An improvement of 30% in performance means that for every 10 million yuan spent, 3 million yuan can be saved and used for other projects. For a developing country like China, this is crucial. From a national perspective, a 30% improvement in project performance means that the original 8% growth rate can be increased to a 10.5% growth rate. Although this may not be achievable in all projects, it gives us an insight that striving to improve project performance is very important. Books play a very important role in helping people improve project performance.
