Features: The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is an important economic cooperation forum in the Asia-Pacific region. The forum aims to promote multilateral free trade and investment and foster regional economic growth, adhering to the principles of voluntary and consensus-based cooperation. Since its establishment, it has made outstanding contributions to promoting trade and investment liberalization and economic and technological cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as to regional economic development and common prosperity, becoming an important bond connecting countries and regions on both sides of the Pacific. In the process of conducting foreign exchanges and participating in international cooperation, the government's foreign policy decisions have been strongly supported by domestic academic institutions. Academic institutions and universities across the country have provided a large number of scientific and objective consulting reports and research findings to China's foreign affairs departments, and have also proposed many valuable policy recommendations. Recently, the APEC Research Center at Nankai University organized scholars in relevant fields to conduct in-depth research on several major issues in the development process of APEC and wrote nine monographs. These academic achievements, starting from a theoretical perspective and combining APEC cooperation practices and China's participation in cooperation, analyze and explore the challenges and opportunities APEC faces in the new historical period, and propose suggestions on how China can more deeply participate in the cooperation process. These works have high research and reference value. This book, as a monograph on APEC trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, introduces the background of trade relations in the Asia-Pacific region, the establishment and development process of APEC, analyzes the operational mechanisms of APEC trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, the unilateral action plans of member economies, and the collective action plans of APEC. It summarizes the welfare analysis results of APEC trade and investment liberalization and facilitation internationally, studies the relationship between APEC regional trade integration and the WTO system, and explores China's commitments and related strategic issues in APEC actions.
