Author's Self-Introduction: Liang Sicheng (1901–1972) was a renowned contemporary architect in China. Professor Liang made outstanding contributions not only in the study of ancient Chinese architecture, architectural theory, architectural education, and urban planning but also wrote many popular architectural (popular science) works in the 1950s and 1960s, drawing on his profound knowledge and exceptional insights. Liang's works are easy to understand, with elegant writing and supplemented by illustrations, making them accessible and engaging. This book includes eight of Liang's works, as well as the historically significant "Report on the Preservation or Demolition of Beijing's City Walls," written in 1950.
