Features: Diabetes, as the name suggests, is a disease where sugar appears in the urine. The reason sugar appears in the urine is the result of elevated blood sugar levels. Diabetes is a chronic, systemic metabolic disease. Under the combined influence of genetic and environmental factors, the body may experience absolute or relative insulin deficiency, leading to disorders in the metabolism of sugar, fat, and protein, resulting in elevated blood sugar levels. Excess sugar is then excreted by the kidneys, leading to diabetes. If diabetes is not properly managed, active and effective treatment is not pursued, acute or chronic complications may arise. Patients with acute complications, in addition to elevated blood sugar levels, may also experience severe imbalances in fat, protein, water, minerals, and acid-base balance, leading to acute complications of diabetes. If the condition is not well-controlled for a long period, it may cause chronic complications in important organs such as the brain, heart, lower limb blood vessels, kidneys, and eyes, potentially even resulting in disability or death.
