Features: A peculiar work of modern Chinese prose, deeply imbued with the essence of British essays. From today's perspective, Liang Yuchun's works remain unmatched, and his writing style has no successors in the contemporary era. Many of the so-called essays in the market are merely superficial imitations lacking the true spirit. Perhaps that era has gone forever. Liang Yuchun (1906-1932) was a literary genius with a short life, living only 28 years on this earth. The works he left behind are not numerous, aside from over twenty translations of foreign literary works. His own writings mainly consist of this book, which is a collection of two pamphlets, Spring Wine and Tears and Laughter. It is the spring wine brewed with emotion, knowledge, and thought. Fei Ming once said, "His literary inspiration was like stars scattered across the sky, fleeting and rare." In his writings, he discusses reading, delves into scholarship, chats about love, reflects on friendship, cites classics, yet without being pedantic or rambling. It is pure literary discourse, also belonging to the realm of scholars' casual conversations. In these pamphlets, we see the author so deeply in love with life and praising existence. He does not critique the world, woven together with beauty and ugliness, goodness and evil, and right and wrong, with a "table-flipping" attitude, but rather exposes it with a cold and disdainful manner.
