Features: This book demonstrates—there are as many ways to be a journalist as there are people who want to be one. Compared to the experts among journalism professors, I exhibit the mindset and characteristics of an outsider. My words are much more straightforward and realistic. Although they have not undergone any selection or recognition, and I may not even get a chance to choose journalists, I still speak for myself and establish thirty criteria for selecting journalists, which I proclaim as the "Thirteen Major Conditions for the New Era's Trendy Journalists." We must push journalists to step forward because it's either a matter of life and death or a once-in-a-century opportunity—you won't get a chance if you don't rise to the occasion. It's like a commander on the battlefield; if you hesitate and show excessive compassion for your subordinates at a critical moment, you might leave an irreparable regret forever. At the same time, you play the roles of a mentor and a servant, a general and a soldier, a saint and a philistine, a wise man and a fool, a judge and a prisoner, a jackal and a rabbit, an executioner and a victim, a friend and an opponent, a collaborator and a competitor—being an editor is truly a nerve-wracking job that requires distinct personalities and the ability to carefully handle at least ten relationships within the newsroom of Phoenix TV.
