"Sanmao Joins the Army 2: Military Life - Illustrated Sanmao Complete Collection Miniature Edition

Author: Zhang Leping
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-02-01
Features: The character Sanmao, created by Mr. Zhang Leping, was born in 1935. The earliest Sanmao comic works found were published in the supplement "Picture Morning Paper" of the Morning Paper on July 28, 1935. Sanmao's purely Chinese name, as well as the comic-style child image that perfectly matches the name, immediately captured the widespread attention of readers. After that, Zhang Leping could not stop creating, producing a large number of Sanmao comic works over the decades and publishing them in separate volumes. Sanmao became a true comic star. The mischievous Sanmao of the 1930s, the soldier and wanderer Sanmao of the 1940s, and the Sanmao who later gained a new life—all these images deeply moved generations of Chinese people. The historical depth and cultural significance of Sanmao are unparalleled in the history of world comics. In 1999, on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Sanmao's Wandering Life was ranked 19th in the "50 Books That Moved the Republic" selection. 2005 marked the 70th anniversary of Sanmao's birth. To celebrate this occasion, we have planned the publication of this Sanmao Complete Works Miniature Edition. The entire collection includes all the Sanmao comic works created by Mr. Zhang Leping and is the most comprehensive and newly released version in China. Sanmao Joins the Army was first serialized from May 12, 1946, to October 4, 1946, in the Shanghai Daily. This book is based on the standalone edition published in 1947, supplemented with six original drafts that were not included at the time. The story's sequence has been slightly adjusted, and after organization, it is published in three volumes. To enhance readability, we have carefully colored the original artwork and added concise text to achieve a harmonious blend of images and words.
