Features: To rescue and excavate the precious heritage of ancient Chinese medical treasures scattered overseas, the People's Medical Publishing House has published the "Overseas Returned Ancient Chinese Medical Classics Series," a project supported by the Special Fund for Basic Scientific Research of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. The series includes carefully selected ancient medical classics with high academic and practical value, which were returned from abroad in the past six years by scholars from China and Japan. These books were studied, organized, and annotated. This volume includes two rare ancient Chinese medical classics: "Medical Secrets of the Gate" and "Medical Essentials of Jun Zhai."
"Medical Secrets of the Gate" was written by Zhang Sifeng (styled Yun Ting) of the Ming Dynasty and published in the fourth year of the Wanli era (AD 1576). It consists of 15 volumes: Volume 1-3 cover medical theory and pharmacology, Volume 4-7 cover internal medicine and miscellaneous diseases, Volume 8-12 are dedicated to ophthalmology, gynecology, pediatrics, and surgical disease treatment respectively, Volume 13 contains miscellaneous prescriptions, Volume 14 lists ten prescriptions for critical illnesses, and Volume 15 discusses the smelting and processing of medicinal herbs. The included diagnosis and treatment experiences are extensive, and all the prescriptions are personally tested and proven effective by the author. The collation of this edition was based on the Wanli era Tong'an Hall edition.
"Medical Essentials of Jun Zhai" was written by Chen Jian (styled Zhizhi, styled Jun Zhai) of the Ming Dynasty and published in the seventh year of the Jiajing era (AD 1528). It also consists of 15 volumes: Volume 1-3 cover the fundamental theories of traditional Chinese medicine, and Volume 4-15 cover the clinical treatment of various diseases, with special emphasis on gynecological treatment, which provides insight into the secrets of the renowned wood fan family's inherited medical knowledge. The collation of this edition was based on the Jiajing era edition.
