Features: News Editing Studies generally include three aspects: editing theory, editing history, and editing practice. Based on my personal experience, the characteristics of editing history and editing practice are quite distinct, and it is relatively easy to grasp their connotations. However, editing theory is comparatively more challenging. The difficulty mainly lies in grasping the level of abstraction in theory. News Editing Studies is both an independent discipline and one with strong compatibility. It not only has a familial connection with journalism and mass communication but is also closely related to philosophy, law, linguistics, logic, aesthetics, psychology, and systems science. Studying News Editing Studies requires both valuing the experience, investigation, and summarization of news editing practices, as well as drawing on and relevant research findings from related disciplines. Otherwise, it is impossible to scientifically summarize news editing experience and elevate it to the level of theory.
