Features: This dictionary took 13 years to compile, involving over 100 Japanese language experts and lexicographical experts nationwide, with nearly 200,000 entries. It is currently the largest comprehensive bilingual Japanese-Chinese encyclopedia dictionary in China, holding significant academic value. The dictionary is compiled based on the Daigen Nihongo Jiten (Great Japanese Dictionary) published by Japan TBS Publishing (first edition in 1989, with multiple subsequent revisions). Except for a few exceptions (such as entries related to China, expansion explanations of basic entry definitions, and example sentences for archaic terms), the rest is translated according to the source material. The features of this dictionary are as follows:
1. Broad content and grand scale, which can be considered a Japanese-Chinese comparative Cihai. All entries have accurate corresponding definitions and concise, precise explanations.
2. Up-to-date explanations of new words. Entry items focus on modern Japanese while also including archaic terms, with a scale comparable to a large-scale glossary. The explanations are close to contemporary life and highly practical. Each entry has a rich collection of examples, along with a large number of synonyms, near-synonyms, antonyms, comparative words, reference words, derivative words, and classifier words, helping readers understand the meaning from multiple angles.
3. Extensive encyclopedic content. In addition to various academic and specialized terms, the dictionary also includes a large number of entries for geographic names, personal names, works, flora and fauna, products, institutional names, and event names from all over the world (data as of March 2001), with substantial information volume, scalability, and systematic structure, many of which are not found in other dictionaries in China.
4. Strong Japanese flavor. This is currently the most detailed dictionary in China for introducing Japan. This dictionary is translated from the encyclopedic Daigen Nihongo Jiten by Japan TBS Publishing, which collects over 170,000 Japanese entries and is accompanied by illustrations.
