Chapter introduces the historical development of law and economics. It provides a systematic review of the emergence and evolution of law and economics from the perspectives of the socio-economic and political context and the disciplinary inheritance and development, clearly depicting the historical background and developmental trajectory of law and economics.
Chapter 2 introduces and explores the fundamental relationship between the Coase Theorem and law and economics.
Chapter 3 summarizes the intrinsic relationship between the Theory of Rational Choice and the developmental history of law and economics. From the perspective of rational choice, it reviews the contemporary development of law and economics and points out that the future progress of law and economics will continue to rely on the advancement of the Theory of Rational Choice as its foundational paradigm.
The Upper Part primarily summarizes and studies some fundamental theoretical issues in modern law and economics. The Lower Part focuses on introducing and comparing the thoughts of several representative figures in law and economics.
