Features: These are letters sent to friends and family in Beijing during a trip in 1981. My brother Jiayao really liked these letters and said he wanted to publish them. He's not a publisher, so he was just making a casual suggestion. In 1993, when I returned to China and lived in the house my brother Jiayao left for me, I discovered these old letters while cleaning the room. I carefully bundled them into a box. Some friends read some excerpts and were willing to help me publish them, so I asked my sister to input them into the computer, made some edits, and deleted parts that were purely household matters, giving them to that friend. But somehow, it got put on hold. In the following years, when friends asked for contributions, they sometimes cut out some paragraphs from them to fill the space.
