Features: Based on the structure, function, and fundamental theories of the bay ecosystem, this book focuses on key aspects, aiming to systematically and comprehensively introduce mature investigation, observation, and analysis methods. In the writing process, standardized legal metrological units are used to regulate the use of quantities and units throughout the book, providing strong guarantees for data comparability. The book is divided into four parts:
1. Objectives and significance of field observations in bay ecosystems;
2. History and development trends of field observations in bay ecosystems;
3. Indicator system for field observations in bay ecosystem experimental stations;
4. Field observation methods in bay ecosystems.
With the advancement of science, research methods for bay ecosystems continue to improve, and new technologies constantly emerge. This book reflects some of these developments. In addition to referencing and citing certain contents of the Oceanographic Survey Specification, it also includes new content, such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for measuring phytoplankton photosynthetic pigments, grain-size classification methods for measuring phytoplankton biomass and productivity, new production measurement methods, dissolved organic carbon (PDOC) photosynthetic production rate determination methods, in-situ tracer cultivation methods for measuring intertidal benthic microalgae productivity, flow cytometry for synchronous measurements of three types of marine picophytoplankton (Synechococcus, Prochlorococcus, and picoeukaryotes) and heterotrophic phytoplankton, 3H-leucine tracing methods for bacterial productivity, phytoplankton growth rate determination methods, volume conversion methods for measuring biomass of micro- and small zooplankton, and serial dilution methods for measuring their feeding rates, as well as methods for studying small benthic organisms. In environmental chemistry, methods for analyzing particulate organic carbon and particulate nitrogen in seawater have been added.
