Features: Wang Zengqi, born in 1920, is from Gaoyou, Jiangsu. He graduated from the Chinese Department of Southwest Associated University. Before the liberation, he worked as a high school teacher and a staff member of the historical museum. After the liberation, he worked as an editor for a long time, and later served as a scriptwriter for an opera troupe, during which he participated in writing the script for the model play "Shajiabang." In 1940, he published his first work, and in 1947, he published a short story collection titled "Encounters." In 1963, he published "The Night in the Sheep Pasture," and after the Cultural Revolution, he published works such as "Selected Stories of Wang Zengqi" and "The Collection of Evening Flowers." His creative works mainly include essays and short stories. After the 1980s, literature no longer carried too much political significance, and readers began to focus more on the aesthetic value of works. Wang Zengqi's works gained more attention, and in the mid-1980s, his "Blessed by Mercy" and "Chronicles of the Great Mo River" were regarded as part of the "cultural root-seeking literature." As a renowned writer, Wang Zengqi is also an invaluable publishing resource. His novels and essays have a dedicated readership.
