Features: Writing is a discipline with a very strong practical nature. If a writing book merely explains writing principles in a simple and mechanical way, it not only lacks practical value but also makes reading feel tedious. Currently, there are numerous works on English writing, but most focus on introducing writing theories and methods. Readers often perceive the content as mere rules and regulations that have little relevance to actual writing, and after reading, they forget these rules and continue to rely on their intuition for writing. This book is specifically designed to address this phenomenon by adopting a writing process-oriented (Writing Process-Oriented) approach to explanation and training, which means combining explanation with practice. It allows readers to recognize and understand the structure of discourse, sentences, and sentence groups through reading relevant articles and paragraphs, helping them apply the intuitive knowledge gained from books to writing practice. In terms of content organization, the authors, based on years of experience in English writing instruction, have selected material closely related to the English Majors TEM-8. The book discusses and explains seven aspects—composition themes, writing techniques, common exam formats, discourse elements, word and sentence selection, rhetorical devices, and exam strategies—in a clear and accessible manner. The book also incorporates new linguistic theories and summarizes materials and methods that have been repeatedly used and proven effective in practical writing instruction. It adopts a "concise explanation with extensive practice, integrating reading and writing" approach to address common problems encountered by examinees in the English Majors TEM-8. Additionally, Chapter 8 includes reference essays and writing prompts. Some prompts are accompanied by background materials to inspire students' ideas and help overcome the problem of feeling "nothing to write about" when composing. The book is based on a six-level starting point and the requirements of the National Ministry of Education for the English Majors TEM-8.
