Features: When compiling language textbooks for children, it is essential to focus on cultivating their reading and writing skills. Therefore, the must adhere to the principles and procedures of language training. However, this is not enough. Primary school students are children, and their language textbooks must be children's literature to spark their interest and make them enjoy reading, thereby developing their multifaceted intelligence. The Open University Chinese Textbook was personally written by Ye Shengtao, entirely consisting of original or adapted works. Its goal is to develop children's reading and expressive abilities, with content closely tied to children's lives, gradually expanding from their immediate surroundings to society. The materials are lively and engaging, incorporating a variety of writing styles, with carefully selected examples of different genres. The vocabulary, sentences, and tone are tailored to children's speech patterns to align with their learning psychology. The text in the lower-grade textbooks is written in a hand-written style, penned and illustrated by Feng Zikai. A distinctive feature is the organic integration of illustrations with text, a novel approach for textbooks of its kind at the time. Since its first publication in 1932, the textbook has gone through over 40 editions. This century-old, illustrated, and rhythmic textbook has nurtured our predecessors and inspired their wisdom. Today, we have rediscovered it because these old textbooks may still hold reference and inspirational value. Considering today's students' reading habits, while preserving the original style of the book, some outdated content has been removed. Simplified character annotations are provided below the original text.
