Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2004-12-01
Features: This book covers the period from 1901 to 2000. It is divided into two volumes. The first volume is a history of prose, divided into three parts: Part 1 covers 1901 to 1949, Part 2 covers 1950 to 1978, and Part 3 covers 1979 to 2000. The second volume is a collection of prose. Prose published between 2001 and 2003 is included, most of which was published before 2000. The book provides appropriate commentary on these works. Prose published after 2000 is not commented on in this book and is not included in the second volume's prose selection. Writers discussed in special chapters or sections in the first volume and those included in the second volume's prose selection are arranged in chronological order of birth. The subjects of this book are writers from Guangxi and non-Guangxi writers working in Guangxi. The writers given special attention in this book are primarily focused on prose creation and research, or those with significant achievements in prose creation and research. The works discussed and included in the book are mainly lyrical and narrative prose, as well as essays and miscellaneous writings (excluding reportage and prose poems). Both the representativeness of literary history and the artistic expression and aesthetic value of the works are considered. Writer profiles include name, birth and death years, original name or pen name, gender, ethnicity, native place, highest academic degree, major positions held, and awards received for prose collections and prose theoretical works (provincial, ministerial, national, or nationwide awards). Non-prose works are briefly introduced as needed.
