Features: Our initial interest in container architecture was primarily its machine aesthetics and the ever-changing spatial forms. In this book, we attempt to understand this unique phenomenon of Hong Kong container architecture through the analysis of design principles and the classification of construction types. As architects, we are amazed by the simplicity of the design concept of container architecture and the complexity of its spatial forms. The combination of basic container units and additional components can create such rich variations, and the relationship between the units and structures presented here is the fundamental starting point of this research. Many of the architectural examples included in this book no longer exist, and more will gradually disappear with the changes in the land use of the New Territories. Therefore, in a specific sense, this book is a record of a transient architectural phenomenon.
