Snow White is a world-famous fairy tale. Its authors were a pair of brothers from Germany—Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm. Snow White tells the story of a beautiful princess born on a snowy night. The king, seeing her skin as white as snow, named her Snow White. Unfortunately, the princess’s mother fell ill and died shortly after her birth. The court was deeply saddened. How could she grow up happily without a mother? Soon after, the king took another queen, who was beautiful but extremely proud. She felt uneasy whenever she saw the lovely Snow White. The queen had a magic mirror, and every time she asked, "Who is the most beautiful in the world?" the mirror would reply, "You are the most beautiful." As time passed, one day the mirror answered, "Snow White is the most beautiful." How could the queen tolerate anyone being more beautiful than her? So, she secretly ordered a guard to take Snow White into the forest to be killed. The guard couldn’t bear to do it but dared not defy the queen’s command. Snow White was taken into the forest, thinking it was just a game, and she was very happy. The guard couldn’t bring himself to kill her and decided to let her go, believing she would never find her way back to the palace. As night fell, Snow White was lost, hungry, tired, and desperate. She came to a small house with no one inside. Snow White entered, saying, "What a strange house!" Inside were seven small tables, seven chairs, seven delicious meals, and seven beds. Snow White ate first, then lay down on a bed and fell asleep. When she woke up, she found seven dwarfs in the house, all staring at her with wide eyes. Snow White quickly told them about getting lost in the forest. The dwarfs sympathized with her and let her stay with them. From then on, the dwarfs went to work, and Snow White cleaned the house and cooked meals. They lived happily together. The queen believed she was the most beautiful woman in the world. One day, she asked the magic mirror again, "Mirror, mirror, who is the most beautiful now?" "Of course, it is Snow White," the mirror replied. Seeing that Snow White was still alive, the queen was furious. She prepared a deadly poison and spread it on a large, red apple. Disguised as an old woman selling apples, the queen approached Snow White’s cottage and called out, "Fresh and crispy red apples! Little girl, would you like to try one?" Snow White couldn’t resist and took a bite, falling unconscious immediately. In the evening, the dwarfs returned home and found Snow White lying on the ground, holding the red apple, but they couldn’t wake her. "Snow White is dead!" they said in sorrow. The dwarfs placed Snow White in a crystal coffin and guarded her day and night. Animals from the forest also came to pay their respects, as they were all her friends and wanted to stay with her every day. A prince riding a horse passed by and asked, "Why are you crying so sadly?" "The princess was killed by an apple," the prince replied. Seeing the beautiful princess with a rosy face, the prince couldn’t resist opening the coffin. As he lifted her, Snow White’s eyes opened. "Who are you?" she asked. "I am a prince from far away," he replied. The dwarfs were overjoyed to see Snow White miraculously revived. The love-at-first-sight prince wanted to take her back to his kingdom. Snow White hesitated, not wanting to leave the dwarfs. "If the prince truly loves the princess, she will be happy, and so will we," the dwarfs said. The prince rode off with his beloved princess, bidding farewell to the dwarfs and the animals in the forest. After traveling over mountains and valleys, they finally returned to his kingdom and married. The evil queen received an invitation from the neighboring kingdom. After dressing up, she stood before the mirror and asked, "Who is the most beautiful?" This time, the mirror replied, "The bride of the neighboring prince is the most beautiful." Hearing this, the queen furiously drew a sharp sword, mounted a broom, and flew to the neighboring kingdom. As she arrived, she had no idea that the bride was none other than Snow White! Enraged, the queen fainted from blood loss. Snow White and the handsome prince lived a happy life together.
