Features: Teenager Gao Tian is plagued by nightmares for several days, dreaming of a strange man with a knife trying to kill him. Soon, he shockingly discovers that the new teacher at his school, Heyman, looks exactly like the man in his dreams. Gao Tian's good friend Feng Bing is injured by a van on his way back from a museum visit. Late at night, Gao Tian is woken again from his nightmare, terrified to find Heyman lurking outside his door. The museum suddenly collapses, Gao Tian's parents quietly leave, and his friend Zhao Qing moves in with him. In the middle of the night, they follow Heyman to an old-style building, where Heyman mysteriously disappears, and Gao Tian discovers a man's dead body in the apartment. Officers Dam and Bi Ke, after a thorough investigation of the scene, determine it's a closed-room murder case. Gao Tian, following his intuition, believes Heyman is involved. Girl Lien brings her brother, Kai Xia, a gaming expert, to Gao Tian's house to help him find the forgotten memory of the eighth level of the "Seven-Tower Game." They fail to find anything, but a suspicious man breaks into Gao Tian's house, claiming to be Uncle Martin, and settles in, searching stealthily for something at midnight.
Wuli shares his strange experiences in the "Seven-Tower Game" in class, revealing that beyond the Seven Towers exists a secret place: the "Gates of the Gods." Gao Tian goes to the ruins of the museum to find the true reason for his parents' disappearance and meets Lien there, picking up a dirty doll. Bi Ke helps them leave the heavily guarded ruins, forbidding them from revealing its secrets. Gao Tian and Zhao Qing encounter the driver Lu Wen, who had injured Feng Bing, but their pursuit ends in vain. Gao Tian, Zhao Qing, Kai Xia, Lien, and Wuli enter the Seven Towers to explore their mysteries. They exit the Seven Towers smoothly and enter the Gates of the Gods. Through the steel city of Lulu, they rescue a princess who has been kidnapped, and pass through a bizarre world of mythical creatures. Gao Tian and Kai Xia reach the end of the Gates of the Gods and discover a strange cemetery, which is connected to events from twelve years ago. They exit the game and find Lien missing. Everyone searches for her, and Gao Tian rescues Lien from under the feet of a mythical creature, as creatures from the game appear in the real world. The terrifying creatures chase them relentlessly, and they finally escape into the underground sewers, where they unexpectedly find a sanatorium. They hide in the sanatorium but are soon discovered, witnessing Lu Wen being killed and Heyman fleeing. Exhausted, Gao Tian returns home, only to find that the doll he picked up is now alive. Meanwhile, Kai Xia relentlessly investigates the events from twelve years ago and suggests going to the basement of the city hall to uncover the truth. The group goes to the city hall and surprisingly encounters Heyman in the basement. Gao Tian regains some memories from the game, identifying Heyman as the killer in the mystery from twelve years ago. Heyman denies it and helps them escape. They flee from the city hall, mythical creatures run rampant in the city, and the city begins to impose a lockdown. Officer Bi Ke protects them as they head to Palm River Hospital for shelter. Gao Tian finally recalls more details and prepares to solve all the mysteries at the hospital.
