Features: Guo Moruo, Wen Yiduo, Xu Zhimo—these are three names long familiar to the Chinese people. Guo Moruo's "talent," Wen Yiduo's "melancholy," and Xu Zhimo's "emotion" are all well-known to lovers of literature. However, comparing and analyzing them holds greater significance. The "Literary World Three Swordsmen" series aims to revisit the lives of these three swordsmen through comparison and analysis. In this book, Xie Yong attempts to examine the fate of a intellectual in the first half of the 20th century, exploring the role and impact of environmental factors on individuals, thereby providing insights or reference points of universal value for the current pursuit of "openness" and "development."
Blood-Stained Wen Yiduo presents new research on the death of the renowned poet Wen Yiduo. The "Wen Yiduo Assassination Incident" was a significant event in modern Chinese history. On the afternoon of July 15, 1946, Wen Yiduo, who taught at Southwest Associated University in Kunming, attended a press conference organized by the China Democratic League to commemorate the assassination of Li Gongpu. On his way home, he was shot and killed by multiple assailants, dying at the age of 47. His eldest son, Wen Lihe, was also severely wounded while protecting him. The assassination is commonly believed to have been ordered by Chiang Kai-shek, with the Military Intelligence Bureau carrying out the operation.
In Blood-Stained Wen Yiduo, Xie Yong offers a unique investigation into the incident, claiming that it was orchestrated by Huo Kui Zhang, the then Commander-in-Chief of Yunnan Military and Police Command, who used the assassination as a pretext to eliminate local factions in Yunnan—a calculated move to achieve two goals at once. As a result, Chiang Kai-shek dismissed Huo from his position.
Blood-Stained Wen Yiduo is part of the "Revisiting the Literary World Three Swordsmen" series published by Tongxin Publishing House. The book traces the evolution of Wen Yiduo's thoughts, showcasing his transformation from a poet and intellectual into someone deeply involved in politics.
