Features: This is one of Jimmy Carter's many works, presenting a grand panorama of the American South and the American Revolutionary War. It is a comprehensive and meticulously researched novel that vividly recreates the revolutionary war that took place in the American South. It is a saga-style literary work, an epic that will change people's perception of the conflict. It depicts the battles, the ruthless fighting, neighbors turning against each other, being utterly opposed, both sides striving for the support of Native Americans, neither asking for mercy nor forgiveness— tragic scenes. The novel portrays a group of determined protagonists and their families from both sides of the conflict—some of whom are the author's ancestors and forefathers. The story revolves around Ethan Pratt, with a complex plot. In 1766, he and his wife Epsey moved from Philadelphia to North Carolina, and in 1771, he joined a group of Quakers and came to Georgia. Ethan and his wife formed a deep friendship with their neighbor Grindall and his wife Mevis in Georgia. Through Grindall and his young Native American friend Nawota, Ethan learns about the western frontier and the indigenous Native American tribes, who are constantly pushed westward by white settlers. Then, eight years of war began, and Ethan and Grindall joined opposing forces, engaging in fierce battles. The emotional love story, the lifelike battlefield scenes, and the thrilling military suspense make The Hornet's Nest a superior work in historical fiction, comparable to The Last of the Mohicans.
