Features: In recent years, major theoretical issues and hot topics have continuously emerged in the field of Chinese philosophy and social sciences. In line with the spirit of "critiquing experts and experts critiquing," the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has launched its first volume of thematic review research reports. Every scholar engaged in scientific research should pay close attention to the research dynamics in their discipline, track and analyze the theoretical frontiers of their field. This is crucial whether for the implementation of our "premium strategy" or for advancing the theoretical innovation system of philosophy and social sciences. In early 2004, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences established a dedicated research team to track and analyze the research dynamics and theoretical frontiers of major theoretical issues and hot topics in various disciplines of philosophy and social sciences in recent years. Eleven of these research reviews are now compiled and published, with the hope of contributing to theoretical and academic innovation in philosophy and social sciences. The 11 topics include neoliberalism, discussions on the basic principles of Marxism and historical materialism, forms of public ownership, economic overheating, the RMB exchange rate, class division and social security for vulnerable groups, culture in the context of globalization, and China-Japan relations, among others.
