Although there aren't many comedic scenes in Lonely Years, compared to some novels' coquettishness, the love and friendship in Lonely Years are extremely real in our daily lives. It might be a bit difficult for children to understand, but those who have gone through those awkward years can clearly feel the compelling tension and vivid scenes in the novel, because these are memories we all share. I think this is also what makes Lonely Years so appealing.
