Features: The Legend of Yue Fei is a novel based on the story of Yue Fei resisting the Jin forces, with a touch of historical romance. Yue Fei, styled Pengju, was a patriotic general from Tangyin, Henan, during the Southern Song Dynasty. He was known for his bravery, exceptional military tactics, and his valiant resistance against the Jin forces. Both during his lifetime and after his death, he earned the love and admiration of the common people. Soon after his martyrdom, folk tales about his life began to circulate, and through generations of embellishment, they evolved into the widely popular The Legend of Yue Fei. The Legend of Yue Fei unfolds against the backdrop of the Southern Song Dynasty, a time when the kingdom was still unstable and the Jin forces were launching large-scale invasions. Generals like Yue Fei, who represented patriotism, strongly advocated for resisting the Jin, while traitors like Qin Hui, who led the Han collaborationists, pushed for surrender. Emperor Gaozong of Song, naturally weak-willed and favoring a policy of appeasement, aligned himself with the surrenderists, which doomed the tragic fate of the protagonist. When we witness Yue Fei's heroic resistance against the Jin forces on the battlefield, only to be ultimately executed unjustly in Fengbo Pavilion, we are deeply moved by his unwavering loyalty and the darkness of society. The Legend of Yue Fei not only portrays Yue Fei as a well-rounded character but also highlights the personalities and traits of many other heroic figures, filling the entire work with stirring chivalry. Overall, it is an excellent work with a positive underlying message. The novel has artistic merits that are commendable, offering readers valuable historical insights, spiritual nourishment, and aesthetic enjoyment. I believe young readers will certainly enjoy this book.
