As a great master of calligraphy and painting, Fan Zeng remained hidden from the world yet held the well-being of others in his heart. At 67, Mr. Fan Zeng is not only physically benevolent but also deeply admired for his contributions to public welfare. Fan Zeng, from Nantong, Jiangsu, was born into a scholarly family in 1938 and began studying history, literature, and painting from a young age. In 1959, he enrolled in the History Department of Nankai University in Tianjin. Two years later, he transferred to the Central Academy of Fine Arts to study art history before later joining the Chinese Painting Department. He (succeeded in studying under) renowned masters such as Wu Zuoren, Li Keran, Jiang Zhaohe, Li Kuchan, and Liu Lingcang, gaining profound knowledge. In 1962, after graduating, Fan Zeng was assigned to the Chinese History Museum. In the late 1970s, he joined the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts as a teacher. Later, he helped establish the Department of Oriental Art at Nankai University and served as its director.
