Features: This book is revised based on the trial teaching materials used at Chongqing University. It makes a brand-new attempt to break the traditional teaching models and content of mathematical statistics. In terms of content, to enable students to better grasp statistical thinking and methods, significant has been made in parameter estimation and hypothesis testing, while many new contents have been added. In the analysis of variance section, in addition to introducing traditional orthogonal design, uniform design is also covered. Regression analysis includes regression diagnostics. The final chapter discusses the main methods of multivariate analysis, providing necessary support for data mining research. In terms of organization, the book uses simple descriptions and explanations to avoid excessive symbolic calculations. The entire book consists of six chapters: Basic Concepts, Parameter Estimation, Hypothesis Testing, Regression Analysis, Analysis of Variance and Experimental Design, and Multivariate Analysis, along with hints and solutions to exercises. The textbook can be used as teaching material and reference for graduate students in engineering majors to understand statistical thinking, learn statistical methods, and conduct applied statistical research. It is also suitable for senior undergraduate students in science and engineering programs at universities.
