Features: The National Music Treasury is a large-scale illustrated book centered on introducing traditional Chinese ethnic instruments. It combines photography, performance, calligraphy, and music (accompanied by a CD with 42 representative ethnic music pieces pressed in), vividly showcasing the rich landscape of ethnic music. The author attempts to provide readers with information from four perspectives—musical instruments, musicians, musical poetry, and musical pieces—through introductions, enabling readers to gain a three-dimensional and vivid impression of Chinese ethnic music.
Photos: Since 1999, the author has persistently tracked and photographed musicians, traveling across Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Tibet, Guangxi, Sichuan, and other regions. He has interviewed nearly a thousand ethnic musicians and folk scholars, many of whom are highly representative figures in ethnic instrument performance. As a photographer, he has captured the moments of performance, expressions, and smiles of the musicians in a timely manner. These original photographs themselves are extremely valuable musical historical materials, while also allowing readers to not only see the styles of the instruments but also roughly understand how each instrument is played.
Textual Descriptions: Primarily focused on images (including instrument photos and performer photos), supplemented by textual descriptions in both Chinese and English.
Structure: Divided into four parts—Blowing, Bowing, Plucking, and Percussion—based on the characteristics of different instruments, creating a relatively clear structure.
In summary, the fundamental features of this book are strong professionalism, data richness, and high artistic value.
