Chinese Materia Medica

Author: Luo Daxiang
Publisher:
Publish Date: 1997-06-01
Features: This book includes over 700 species, while the comprehensive "Jingzhu Materia Medica," compiled 250 years ago, only lists 1,100 species (2,294 items). The distribution area mainly covers southern Qinghai, Aba and Ganzi prefectures in Sichuan, and the Changdu region in Tibet. In recent decades, although works like "Dingqing Tibetan Medicine" have been published, they are mostly regional Tibetan herbals. Some may claim the data covers the entire Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, but few have conducted comprehensive and systematic field surveys of the plateau. "Zhonghua Tibetan Materia Medica" includes a total of 1,859 species of Tibetan medicine (over 400 of which are newly published), with distribution areas covering Qinghai, Tibet, southern Gansu, western Sichuan's Ganzi and Aba prefectures, and the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan. The drugs included in "Zhonghua Tibetan Materia Medica" not only utilize ancient and modern literature but also involve research and identification of the listed species. Moreover, the compilers have gathered first-hand field survey data from decades of fieldwork.
