Features: > (Revised Edition) (Edited by Zhang Hanxi, published by FLTRP) is a intensive reading textbook designed for senior undergraduate students of English. Since all the texts in this textbook are sourced from original English materials from the UK and the US, students from different schools find it challenging to use and learn, facing certain difficulties. To help students and self-learners better understand and study this textbook, we have specially compiled its supplementary material—(Revised Edition) Study Guide. The entire guide is divided into two volumes, and the second. Each volume is organized according to the original textbook, with each lesson consisting of the following four parts:
1. Reference Translation: The entire text is translated into Chinese. The translation focuses on accuracy while striving for fluency, readability, and ease of understanding.
2. Vocabulary Dual-Explanation: New vocabulary in the text (excluding basic vocabulary for the first and second years of English major teaching syllabus) is annotated in both English and Chinese, based on the context of the text. Special attention is paid to explaining words that are difficult to find in general dictionaries. The English definitions primarily rely on Webster's New World Dictionary of the American Language (Second College Edition).
3. Text Annotations: Some allusions, proper nouns, typical grammatical and rhetorical phenomena in the text are annotated in Chinese. The annotations aim to be clear, detailed, and selective, focusing on challenging points. Some sentences, though simple in structure, may be confusing or misleading due to their complexity, so they are also analyzed in detail. This is done to facilitate self-study.
4. Exercise Solutions: All exercises in each lesson, including oral and written practice (except for Topics for oral work left for students to practice independently), are provided with appropriate answers. Due to space constraints, only one composition exercise is selected for each lesson. For more flexible exercises, such as paraphrasing and sentence completion, the provided answers are for reference only, and students may have their own solutions.
