Features: Chinese sociology has gone through a very tortuous and difficult journey in the middle of the last century. It was indeed not easy for sociology to be rebuilt and develop to the current state in the 1980s. Many of our students may not yet be familiar with the history of the discipline. I suggest they learn about the emergence, development, suspension, and rebirth of sociology in China through classroom learning and reading, so that they can feel the challenging fate of the discipline and recognize the historical responsibility they bear in rebuilding and promoting it. They should always remember this responsibility in their future studies and research. Today, we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Sociology at Peking University, which is of great significance. Our generation of elders has already or is about to hand over the baton, but I firmly believe that the young generation of sociologists and anthropologists in China will carry forward this cause, making Chinese sociology and anthropology stand independently in the world of academic research with a new appearance, and making due contributions to the rejuvenation of the nation and the establishment of a peaceful and harmonious human society.
