Features: The National College Japanese Proficiency Test Level 8 has been held uniformly every March since its first implementation in 2002, organized and administered by the Japanese Group of the Foreign Language Advisory Committee of Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education. The purpose of the Level 8 test is to assess whether students have achieved the comprehensive language skills and communicative competence required by the "Outline" for Level 8. This test serves as a measure to evaluate teaching quality and promote intercollegiate exchange in Japanese language instruction. As the test is still in its early stages, students taking the exam urgently need to understand its content, question-setting patterns, characteristics, and master the corresponding skills and strategies. Therefore, we have written this book based on the "Outline for the Japanese Proficiency Test Level 8" and the "Teaching Outline for Advanced Japanese Language Studies in Higher Education Institutions," aiming to provide systematic and comprehensive training and guidance for candidates to help them pass the Japanese Proficiency Test Level 8 as soon as possible. This book is divided into the following four parts:
Part 1: Reading Comprehension
This section analyzes the question types of the reading comprehension section in the Japanese Proficiency Test Level 8 and introduces the concept of reading comprehension as well as the requirements for reading comprehension skills in the test.
Part 2: Literature
This section is divided into four parts. Part 1 analyzes the question types of the literature section in the Japanese Proficiency Test Level 8. Part 2 focuses on introducing various rhetorical devices in Japanese tanka, as well as the techniques and reading methods for tanka, and includes corresponding self-assessment exercises. Part 3 covers basic knowledge of Japanese literary history.
Part 3: Translation
The translation section of the Japanese Proficiency Test Level 8 is limited to Chinese-to-Japanese translation. Therefore, this section primarily introduces Chinese-to-Japanese translation techniques, problem-solving approaches, and precautions, along with corresponding simulation questions for the Level 8 test and reference translations.
Part 4: Writing
This section includes four parts: the question types and requirements of the writing section in the Japanese Proficiency Test Level 8, basic principles of Japanese writing, analysis of writing examples, and simulation questions with reference answers. The "Basic Principles of Japanese Writing" part mainly introduces Japanese writing formats, other basic knowledge, sentence-writing techniques, paragraph design and writing, and the overall structure of the essay. The "Analysis of Writing Examples" part provides examples to explain the writing of various types of essays in the Level 8 writing exam. The "Simulation Questions" part offers practical writing exercises with reference answers.
The features of this book are:
- Capturing the question-setting characteristics and solution strategies of the past 3 years' full exams, providing simulation questions and exercises that represent the new question-setting format.
- It is a comprehensive Japanese Proficiency Test Level 8 preparation guide that integrates the guiding principles of the Level 8 test and the essential points of the test outline.
