Features: This is a memoir-style novel written by British special forces soldier Tom Carlu, chronicling his legendary experiences during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Tom Carlu was a top-tier operative in the mysterious and renowned British Special Air Service (SAS), where extreme training repelled countless heroes, leaving only those with extraordinary skills capable of fighting alone in battle. Tom Carlu was sent to Afghanistan alone by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. His mission was to secretly gather intelligence on the Soviet forces and their new weapons and equipment in Afghanistan. In the desolate mountains, he fought side by side with Muslim guerrillas who were once uneducated farmers, bravely resisting the powerful Soviet army. The Muslim guerrillas were unarmed, facing a starkly disproportionate force against the advanced Soviet military. Therefore, Tom Carlu had another important task: establishing a secret training camp in the mountainous region between Afghanistan and Palestine to teach Muslim civilians conventional military techniques and terrorist methods such as kidnapping, assassination, and car bombings to fight the Soviets. Ironically, the training camps he established later became cradles for modern-day terrorists, with Bin Laden graduating from one of them, and the "9/11" ideology originating from there.
