Features: This book records 280 tropical wood species in Latin America, belonging to 153 genera and 44 families, with broadleaf wood accounting for 96%. The book is divided into three parts: Part 1, Characteristics and Uses of Major Commercial Coniferous Woods in Latin America; Part 2, Characteristics and Uses of Major Commercial Angiosperm Woods in Latin America; Part 3, Classification of Uses for Major Commercial Woods in Latin America. In the first two parts, each tree species is described, including: 1. Wood Name (Chinese name, Latin name, commercial name, and local name); 2. Tree and Distribution; 3. Wood Structure (macroscopic and microscopic features); 4. Wood Properties (density, drying shrinkage, mechanical properties, drying, decay resistance, and processing); 5. Wood Uses. Each wood species is also accompanied by three micrographs (transverse section, tangential section, and radial section) to help readers correctly identify the microscopic structure of the wood. The third part is based on practical production needs and summarizes the main use categories of wood. According to the requirements of quality and properties for each type of use, suitable tree species are proposed for reference by production and usage departments.
