Author: Meinl Guo Ji
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2004-10-01
Features: This book is a combined volume of two of Professor Meinl's works——《Schmitt's Doctrine》, published in 1998, is the longest of Meinl's published works to date;《Strauss's Theses》, newly published this year, was originally titled "Das theologisch-politische Problem" and was changed to its current title upon the author's agreement. The latter book is too short for a separate Chinese translation, so with the author's consent, the two books were combined. Meinl's Chinese translation of《The Hidden Dialogue》is also a combined volume of multiple essays—the author prefers short essays, all centered around Schmitt and Strauss. This book can be considered a continuation of《The Hidden Dialogue》, though combined, it primarily deals with the same issues of Schmitt and Strauss—the essence being the "theological-political problem." Professor Meinl proposed naming this combined Chinese translation "The Theological-Political Problem," but in the context of Chinese linguistics, it would be more appropriate to call it "Core Issues in the Ancient-Modern Controversy"—tentatively serving as a translation of "Das theologisch-politische Problem." Strauss's lecture manuscript《The Relationship Between Philosophy and Theology》was included as an appendix in this book at my suggestion, and this is noted for clarity.
