Features: This book collects 50 speeches from famous political figures, with rich content and a wide span of time and space. Chronologically, it covers speeches from ancient to modern times; geographically, it involves countries such as Carthage, ancient Greece, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the United States, Italy, and the former Soviet Union; thematically, it includes topics such as slavery, racial systems, class systems, women's liberation, democracy, and freedom. We have selected these representative classic speeches, hoping to gain a glimpse of the bigger picture and capture the dazzling ripples in the vast ocean of speeches. With the passage of time, we can no longer hear the powerful and rhythmic voices of the speakers, but through the penetrating words, we can still feel the brilliance of those historical moments. For each speech, we provide the original text, background information, analysis, annotations, and translations. Some of the original texts are quite long, so we have made omissions. The background and analysis section includes the speaker's life, major contributions, speech context, impact, structure, and linguistic features. The annotations section includes summaries of grammatical and syntactic difficulties in the speech, introductions and cross-references of famous quotes and rhetorical devices, and explanations of unfamiliar names, places, and events. The translations aim for simplicity and clarity, focusing on readability. During the compilation of this book, we have paid special attention to the following aspects: 1. Introduction to speech techniques; 2. Summaries of linguistic points and rhetorical devices; 3. Expansion of literary knowledge; 4. Exploration of emotional intelligence factors.
