Features: Faced with the topic of A Collection of Speeches by World Cultural Icons, the editors first had to clarify what constitutes a "cultural icon." Therefore, the 18 British world "cultural icons" selected for this book all demonstrate three key characteristics: First, they breathe with the world and share the fate of their nation, leading the times in history and embodying the spirit of the era, with their moral conduct and actions inspiring future generations. Second, they have made contributions in culture, leaving behind a legacy of literary and artistic heritage worth passing down to posterity. Third, they align with a popular identity, reflecting the unity of social recognition and public awareness. The 20 speeches by these 18 icons range from just a few hundred words to tens of thousands, and we have arranged them in chronological order of publication, without regard to nationality or speech topic.
