The renowned European female opera singer Elizabeth Orlan was invited to perform at a banquet, but suddenly collapsed while all the guests were attentively listening. When the guests rushed to her side, they found she had died in a mysterious manner. No one knew who had killed her, nor how the murderer had done it. The strangest part was that the priceless pearl necklace she wore around her neck had vanished without a trace! Although the police had made a thorough investigation, they found nothing, which led to severe criticism of the Marquis of Irunamen, who had been the last person to contact Elizabeth at the time of the incident. Some even suspected him of being the notorious thief Athos Robin or the dreaded "Shadow Killer" Brutus. Fifteen years later, Robin, disguised as Raoul, stepped forward to investigate this mysterious case. Through his meticulous reasoning, the truth of the case was finally revealed, and the mastermind behind it was caught. To everyone's surprise, the culprit turned out to be a wealthy earl, who had hidden his stocks worth 700,000 francs in a secret vault, only to have them stolen! And only the earl and his wife had the keys to this secret vault, with the combination known only to the earl himself. Who, then, had stolen the stocks? Just as everyone was puzzling over this, they discovered that the earl's wife had also been murdered! Who was the murderer this time? Was it the same person who had stolen the stocks? This series of baffling and intertwined incidents all stemmed from one word: "love."
